Providing hope for the youngest victims in Gwinnett County, Georgia.

History

When Steve K. Kendrick, Executive General Manager of INFINITI of Gwinnett and Subaru of Gwinnett, found out that Gwinnett County would have more than 1,400 homeless children attending school, he asked his employees if they could all get behind the effort to help provide these children with something that would give them hope, trust and self-esteem for the future.  From this, the Back to School Back Pack Program was launched.

Back to School Back Pack launched in 2007 and held a raffle for an inclusive six-night/seven-day vacation to raise funds. The next year we decided to further our fundraising in efforts to expand our reach. We added two fundraisers in 2008 including a Charity Fashion Show and a Charity Golf Classic. In 2009, just two years old, we reassessed our previous fundraisers in order to determine which fundraisers were effective within the community. The charity golf tournament and vacation raffle were the biggest hits in our fundraising efforts. We decided to continue down this road and held a raffle for an inclusive six-night/seven-day trip including first class round-trip airfare to the Ritz Carlton in Naples, FL and the Second Annual Golf Classic. In 2010 we offered a cruise on Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Sea, hosted our 3rd Annual Charity Golf Classic and a Wine and Shoe event with the Gwinnett Gladiators. In 2011 we enjoyed holding a fundraiser at Coolray field with the Gwinnett Braves, Christmas in July with the Arena Tavern, a Silent Auction, and our Fourth Charity Golf Classic at Hamilton Mill.

In 2014 Golf Classic program was held at the Berkeley Hills Country Club in Duluth, GA.  Last year our 8th annual Golf Classic was held on April 27th at St Ives Country Club in Johns Creek, GA. In addition to winning a 2015 Infiniti QX60 for a Hole In One - we were proud to announce a new prize for the winning foursome. They were invited to play in the 2016 Great Gwinnett Championship Pro-Am!
